Brussels sprouts aren't that bad; our kids love them

Brussels Sprouts make the list of hated vegetables for many people. Many people's hatred comes from an experience eating overcooked Brussels sprouts. When this vegetable is overcooked, sulfur is released and the taste isn't pleasant.

We have grown this vegetable for a few years in our garden and I must admit before growing it, I had no idea how this vegetable grew. It grows on the stalk of the plant and I later learned the leaves that grow from the stalk are edible too.

We typically roast our Brussels sprouts and it's super simple. Preheat your oven to 400. Then, clean and cut the Brussel sprouts in half. Toss in olive oil and season with salt and pepper. As shown in the picture above, we also like to include other veggies from the garden when we roast.

Our boys love Brussels sprouts and have requested them twice for their birthday dinner.
