Stacking Green

One of my favorite dishes to make is mixed greens. My hubby, sons and I love greens. I love to mix different greens together when I cook because I believe it elevates the dish and gives it a more diverse flavor palate.

What's great about being part of a garden network is being able to harvest different greens from different people. From my great uncle Lindbergh, I harvested collard greens and from my parents, I harvested mustard greens.

Recently, I celebrated my 35th birthday during a summer cookout, so I made mixed greens and cabbage with smoked turkey necks and smoked turkey sausage and many guests enjoyed eating my dish and even took some home.

It is important to note that most of your time should be spent cleaning your greens. There's nothing worse than finding a cooked caterpillar in your food. Check out the photos below where Gardeners Jerry and James are picking and cleaning greens. Yes, I did wash them again to ensure the greens were super clean!

Remember, anyone can be a gardener. You just need to get ready, get set, and grow!
